The Aston Workshop is the worlds leading restoration specialist for classic Aston Martin cars. Made famous by the James Bond franchise, the Aston Martin DB5 is the iconic car for the on-screen super spy. The Aston Workshop has always employed the latest technology to enhance it's business and their understanding of the need to backup their data led to them choosing Viono Backup.

The Aston Workshop employs over 30 staff, based in one location in the UK. The business consists primarily of a number of Windows-based PC's, but the introduction of Macintosh machines in 2008 meant that they needed a cross-platform solution to backups. The existing backup procedures involved backing up to tape and then a member of staff taking these backups home on an evening. Having any backup procedure is better than none, and taking the backup off-site is obviously preferable to leaving it on-site (due to potential problems of fire or theft). The problem with the existing system was that sometimes staff forgot to take the backups home and therefore the aspect of 'human error' needed to be removed.

Viono were asked to show the benefits of Viono Backup and we installed a test system for a few core machines, including the owners Mac, which was off-site. Subsequent to the initial trial we installed the backup software on the core server as well as a number of laptops (which are obviously more susceptible to theft). The initial backup took nearly two weeks in total due to the large size but now backups take less than 30 minutes each evening and are stored securely, remotely and without any need for human intervention.
